Non-Resident Student Transfer Guidelines & Application - 2024-2025 SY
Non-Resident Student Transfer Guidelines & Application
Non-Resident Student Transfer Applications are being accepted for 1st through 12th Grade beginning April 16, 2024, and ending June 17, 2024. Student transfer decisions will be based on factors considered as addressed through our standard definitions presented in FDA (Local). These factors outlined in FDA (LOCAL) include space and staff availability, including specific programs and facilities, and grades, discipline history, and attendance records. We do not charge tuition fees for out of district transfers.
Transfers are considered on a case-by-case basis. District approval of a transfer does not guarantee that a sibling will be automatically admitted as a transfer. Each student is subject to the requirements set forth in FDA (Local) regarding Non-resident Applicants. The superintendent or his designee has the authority to deny or accept transfers under special circumstances.
Completed applications along with supporting documents are to be submitted to the district designee by the June 17 deadline. No incomplete applications will be accepted, nor will OGISD accept applications after the window has closed. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain all necessary documentation. OGISD will not request the required documentation from the previous campus or educational institution. Out of district transfers are considered on a first come first served basis.
OGISD does not grant out-of-district transfer requests for any of the following reasons:
- For Pre-Kinder or Kinder age students (*see exceptions below)
- To avoid disciplinary actions in another district
- During an expulsion term being served by the student
- To participate in UIL varsity athletic or academic extracurricular activities
- Home schooled students who have not attended the prior year at a private or public school institution.
* Exceptions: District employee children, students who have other siblings attending OGISD, or PK transfers already in our district will be accepted.
All student transfer applications will be either accepted or denied solely on the attendance, academic, and discipline criteria listed in board policy FDA (Local), without regard to race, religion, color, sex, disability, national origin, or language.
